I really and honestly hate bringing up diet again, but I think the reason
for certain hound odors depends a great deal on what the hound is being fed.
They are what they eat, after all. None of my hounds have odors other than
the "normal" hound odor, and even then it's hardly noticeable. I feed the
hounds a lot of fresh, raw foods; that's what their diets are based on. 

A hound's smell should never be overwhelming, toxic, or offensive. IF it is,
then most likely it's not a diet problem, but a health issue like yeast
overgrowth, infected teeth and/or gums, UTI, full anal glands, etc.

Hounds have a certain smell about them; there's no getting around it. If you
don't like the smell, you shouldn't have hounds ;o)
