Um, er...the rest of your house SHOULD be off limits until she is reliably housebroken.? If a crate is used right, it becomes a safe and secure place for them, even if one has to put them there for discipline reasons.? Our Dudley knows when the dried chicken strip treats come out, it's time to go in his "house" and he scoots there like a speeding bullet.? As anyone who has crate trained knows, its consistency which works.?? Get in the routine of up in the AM, out the door to potty, treat, then in for breakfast, then out again to potty, treat, play time, out to potty, treat crate break...out to potty.? Got the idea?? Eventually they get it.?
Dudley's crate is in our bedroom as are three dog beds.? There are multiple dog beds in the family room where the houndage hangs out napping when we're downstairs.? Bassets are pack animals and like to be near/sleep near their humans - even with, given the chance, LOL.? Someday you may allow this but I would make sure the routines you want for her whe she's grown are what she learns now.? Cute, notwithstanding...LOL

I am curious as to how many of the
droolers use a crate for nighttime or for when going away?? My dear husband
says
he doesn't want to use one. Says she will feel too confined and think the
rest of the house is off limits??
