I have a basset puppy.  It's a crazy, messy world.  I lost both my parents within 5 weeks of each other this summer.  Without this buppy, I'm not sure I would have gotten through it all.  She made my mother's last days happy ones.  Sure, the buppy has accidents, chews shoes and sandals, ate the corners off of two pieces of furniture, likes to unweave an antique oriental rug and has the ability to bark non stop for an hour.  It has been a wonderful distraction.  Quite frankly in the grand scheme of things, she just makes me laugh.  No matter how naughty she is, she's all wiggles and kisses when she sees me.  She's dropped years off the old Golden.  Actually, I was looking for an excuse to get that chair slip covered.  As I wrote this, she just jumped o the sofa to taste some pillows.  My house will never be the same and I'm find with that.  When I started reading the Drool, I kept wondering why do all these people have so many bassets.  Now I know.  I want more.  Is this an illness?  Did this buppy make me absolutely insane?  I hope so.  



So, to Chole's owner - it sounds like you just needed to vent.  The drool is just the place to do it - and to help you realize that this is normal.  I hope it all works out for you - - it sounds like you've got a supportive family.  Keep us posted.
