Debbie Winchester makes a good point about cars.
I drove a Dodge Grand Caravan for a couple of years.
I really liked it, but it did not have enough room for my 9 dogs and
their crates. Ever since Gary died, I worry about maybe having to get
all the dogs in the car in case of a disaster. Before I could do some
serious shopping, I had an accident with the van. I totaled it. But, I
had my seat belt on and the three dogs that were with me were in their
crates. No one got hurt.
I then bought a Chevy Express Cargo Van...nothing fancy. Just enough
room for all the dogs, their stuff and my stuff if necessary. 6 Days
after I brought it home, I hit a big buck deer. 6,000 dollars later, it
is as good as new. Again, seat belt for me and all dogs in well secured
crates..no one got hurt.
I shudder when I read about folks having their dogs ride loose. If mine
had been loose in either wreck, I know they would have been injured or
killed. And I know, without a seat belt in the wrecks, I would have
been seriously hurt.
Both vans held the road well when I wrecked. The only draw back to the
Express is that is doesn't handle real well in high winds.
