I was reading the Drool today reading all about Rescuers with ill hounds  and I was thinking of a conversation I had yesterday at the pound. I was talking with a fellow Basset Rescuer while we were at the Kansas City Animal Control yesterday looking at the new Hound (owner abandoned) they just got in and we were discussing how increasingly hard it is becoming to stay in business. We are all having trouble raising funds to feed and vet our hounds. Donations are down with the failing economy. Some of us have not been able to take hounds in because we are not sure if we will have enough food to go around. The hounds we do take all seem to be ill. I know our rescue has had a time trying to stay afloat since every dog we get has some illness, pnuemonia, heartworms, kidney stones, ringworm, tumors, hernias etc. I know a lot of Droolers volunteer for rescue organizations and I am sure you see your local rescues struggling with the same problems. So I
am submitting a plea for Basset Rescues everywhere, "Please help support your local Basset Rescue and help feed the hounds in these poor economic times!!!!" Thanks in advance for your support!! Western Missouri Basset Rescue (wmbri.org)
