Our dog days of summer diversion is coming up
soon - it will start just a little earlier this year.
Signups will be Friday, July 25th - Friday, August 1.
You will receive your pawtner's name within a day
or so after signups END.

The deadline for your pawtner to RECEIVE their
package (not for mailing your package) will be
Saturday, August 23rd.  This gives about two
weeks from the time  you get  your pawtner's
name to get your package in the mail. There
will, of course, be some leeway for out of the
country packages, but if your pawtner is not
in the US, you do  need to plan to get your
package out quickly.

Please shop rescue for your pawtner's gifts; NOW
is the time to start looking and planning and buying!
Our spending cap for the human gifties will be the
usual $30.  I will also do a "mini" exchange if there's
enough interest for those who are on a tight budget
this year with a spending cap of $15. Please email
me off list if this works better for you so I'll have an
idea if there would be enough participants.

If you are new to the Drool or don't know about
our secret pawtner exchange, think secret Santa
with a basset theme!  You can email me off list
with any questions (it may take me a day or so
to get back to you, so please be patient). The
gifts are for the human but treats for the hounds
are a must, too.

We will have a separate secret pawtner digest
again this year.  You will need to sign up for the
SP digest when you sign up for secret pawtner
even if you signed up last year (remember that
we have a new server for the Drool so last year's
site doesn't work any more).

Please check  your calendars now to see if the
exchange is going to coincide with your vacation
or if you have any other conflict.  If so, you can still
participate by planning ahead and letting me know if
you aren't going to be home so I can notify your pawtner
to adjust the timing of  your package's arrival.

A few last words - if you say you are going to give
clues, then follow through and post clues.  A personal
thank you to your pawtner is imperative upon receiving
your package even if you post about your package to
the group.  And, in order to get a personal thank you,
you must include your email address in your package.
If you are shopping rescue and they are mailing your
package for you (a great idea for those who will be
out of town), be sure to have them include  your
email address.
