[Dailydrool] The World According to Norm - Our Red Bay Weekend

It's me again - Norm!

We just got back from my first looonngggg weekend of dog shows.  We were
there for 5 nickzillion days and it was FUN-FUN-FUN-FUN-FUN!!!!  When we got
there on Thursday, Mom, Dad and Granny Pat scurried around like big mice
making everything perfect for us.  They set up our portable play yards, they
put water in shiny buckets, they set up our fans, they put up our sunscreens
and then we got out of the air conditioned vans.  They were all hot and
sweaty - we were cool as cucumbers!

It sure is fun watching them being good slaves and waiting on us - but
that's what they get for having those 'posable thumb thingies!

 

On Friday, I got up at 6:30 o'dawn  - ate my breakfast - Mom brushed me and
cleaned my breakfast off my ears - put my favorite snood on me and we went
to the square ring (I still can't figure out how a ring can be square!).  I
went round and round - then the nice lady gave me a blue ribbon and a purple
ribbon.  Mom gave me a kiss - but told me not to get too 'cited coz there
weren't enough dogs for me to get a point, even if I did get the purple
ribbon.  Then on Saturday, we got up at 6:00 o'dawn and did the same thing.
Again, I got a blue ribbon and a purple ribbon - but this time I also got a
red and white ribbon too!  And I got a point!!  Then on Sunday, we did the
same thing - three ribbons and 1 point!  On Monday, Johnny got to go play
dog show - he got a blue, purple and red & white ribbon too!  And he got a
point - and .. HE BECAME A CHAMPION!!!   Mom was very happy and couldn't
wipe this silly smile off her face.  Johnny got to have his picture taken
with the judge man too!  Lots of people came by our house on wheels and told
mom 'gratulations and gave Johnny treats.  I said - HEY!  I won THREE DAYS -
I want treats too!  So, they gave all of us treats and pets.  Granny Pat
bought a neat octopus toy all for me - I mean for me to share with Opie and
Ouija.

 

On our way home, we stopped at the Dairy Queen for our traditional
celebration treats!  You should have seen the lady's face when mom ordered 2
Blizzards, 1 milkshake and 8 kiddies cups - no spoons!  It was the first
time Opie and Ouija had DQ - I think Opie got brain freeze 'coz he ate it so
fast and he kept shaking his head.  Mom says we had FOUR Red Bay Days
(that's what she calls days that we win) - I say that we had fun - I like
playing dog show - but boy! I am really tired!   I've got to rest up fast -
we are leaving for another looonnngggg weekend of BIG dog shows on Wednesday
- and the twin princesses are going with us!  I'll give you a report when we
get back.
