[Dailydrool] Escape artists who dig under fences

My neighbor has an escape artist dog, Nugget, who used to dig under fences, move bricks, move concrete blocks, pry away boards, etc., just as Diva does, in order to run freely in the neighborhood (not safe where we live, either). To solve the problem, my neighbor bought a few dozen rebar poles/spikes (kind of like metal tent poles). He drove the spikes vertically into the ground on the inside of the fence at intervals of about every 3 inches apart. Each pole goes down into the ground at least a foot and extend upwards along the inside of the fence maybe 2 feet. (This is kind of like building a wrought iron fence both under and above ground just inside the wood fence). Since building the rebar barrier, Nugget has not been able to escape. Don't know if this would work for you, Jessica, but it's worth a try.
