[Dailydrool] Ramp building

With Ruby Doo (hip dysplasia) and Tucker (spinal arthritis) I just built them a ramp leading from the back steps idown into the garden room.
The kidz door also happens to be in the same area. Because the steps are 8 foot wide, building the ramp just out their door did not work as they would still use the steps if I was coming in. I used treated 2 x 4's, 3/4" exterior plywood and one 2x8. I positioned the 2x8 (which was the height of the step when you added the 2" of the 2x4)) cut the 2 x 4's to the angle of the step and attached them to the 2x8 - about 15-16" apart. Then I attached the 3/4" plywood to the 2x4's with screws. I actually used 1 and about 1/8 piece of plywood to adjust for the angle so it wasn't to steep. I found a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet at home depot that was had a great no slip texture for $15 and attached that with 1/2' screws with washers so it wouldn't pull out (which I just happened to have). The kidz love it and it will support all 4 dogs, my grandbaby and myself which is close to 370 lbs without any problem. Of course I really don't have much room left
in the Garden room now, but the kidz have a easier time getting in and out and that is all that matters.

Droolz to all,
Karen and the Dog House Gang
Ruby Doo, Tucker, Abby, Sadie and Cuddles (We love our ramp!)
