Thanks for the information below Sylvie. I knew that it had to be more then
the ear shake thing. The vet said he was thinking ear infection, but his ear
was totally clear and he could see his ear drum fine.  I printed out your
explanation below and I will take it to my vet, after I do some research on
it.  It is a good thing something was said as Oliver is getting his
deciduous teeth pulled very soon as in this week or next!  My vet also has
where a client can be examined within 2 weeks time for the same problem with
no exam charge.  I should call them immediately on Monday.

Bleeding ear tips can be a sign of a bleeding disorder, such as vWd or
thrombopathia. I would ask your vet for a clotting test. If your vet is not
familiar with these disorders, I'd look at getting into a specialist or vet
school for testing.

Also, if the dog is shaking his ears that much, I'd have his ears swabbed
for mites, because it's a typical presentation for mite infestations in the
ears.

I would *not* ignore bleeding ear tips.
