[Dailydrool] bloody stool

Very dark stool usually means blood in the upper digestive tract. Red
or bright blood means lower digestive bleeding. Could be that they
nicked a bowel during spay surgery, could be colitis, could be something
swallowed that cut as it passed through the system. If it still is in
there, you have a problem. Definitely keep an eye on her behavior! I
would also get a digital thermometer, and if she seems to feel even a
little punk, check her temp. If it is high, get her to the vet, it
means infection.

My recommendation would be to have an abdominal x-ray immediately. I am
surprised your vet hasn't suggested it. If she only passes bowel every
other day, that is very bad. My dogs have bowel movements at least 2x a
day! They could have messed up during the spay surgery, or it could be
completely unrelated, but you won't know until you look. Dogs have an
amazing capacity to hide pain, so don't delay. The pro-biotic treatment
is always a good idea for basset hounds, because it helps their ears
too, so keep it up.

Good luck!
