[Dailydrool] Mitchell

Thanks to everyone for the drool. It seems to be working but that is only my
guess. He has to go back and see the Dreaded Doc today. Last night we set up
the grooming table, hung a bag of fluids from the grooming arm and gave him
some  IV fluids. Considering the structure of Basset legs, whoever set that
catheter deserves a steak dinner because it was still open and useable.
Since he has quit puking I fixed some hamburger and rice for him this
morning (at 6,on sunday) and while I was letting Llewis and Nigel outside,
the GOOD dog, Cooper,got up on the counter and ate it all. I was so mad. I
don't cook, especially at 6 in the morning before I have had my espresso. To
have to do it twice!! (I know I know, not exactly gourmet preparations
skills..)
Cooper, so far as I can tell, is totally unrepentent,despite the screeming
meme when I caught him. I got one of those semi-disgusted Belgian "What did
you think would happen?" looks.

Anyway Mitchell, who was waiting patiently, curled up on one of my
sweatshirts that Llewis had liberated from the dirty clothes, did finally
get about a handful of hamburger and rice, and a little water. I didn't call
Doc to see if it was ok. I have called him about that early before, when I
was the Sunday Morning Tech, and it is always fun to listen to his brain
start up, but it means waking his wife up, too-- no fair for this.
Mitchell goes back in this morning, but I suspect he will be on oral meds
and ID for awhile.
A thorough investigation of the Jungle and the rest of the yard turned up no
more dead animals or poisonous plants,just a couple of Woman-Eating Wild
Rose bushes with canes about 4 feet long.
