To All Droolers,
Well, sometimes vacations are not all they are cracked up to be. Today the
dreaded Cleaning Lady arrived. Now she likes bassets, and she signed up to
clean knowing that three of them lived here. But then Sampson joined the
pack. Imagine her surprise to find mememe, Nudgie, here as well. Muttering
something slightly derogatory about my [very] fluffy fur probably being all
over the house, she proceeded to spend the day cleaning all around me.
How's a guy supposed to get his beauty sleep, what with vacuums and wet mops
and funny smelling pine stuff everywhere?
I must admit, though, that she did tell me I had a cute little face and eyes
dark as charcoal. And she pet me very nicely, several times. (I like
pets.) I think my charms won her over in the end. The other good thing is
that Patslave was home. She had chemotherapy yesterday and stayed home from
work today to recover, so she had time to pet me more than usual, too.
Last night I chose to sleep in the downstairs bedroom with Carolslave and
all the other bassets (Rosie included). It was nice to hear the soft
snoring of so many other hounds. Breakfast this morning was a lovely
combination of pasta, red sauce and parmesan cheese. I turned my basset
nose up at the scrambled eggs that were initially offered. Sadie always
demands breakfast at 4:30 (holidays and weekends included), so I figured if
a guy like me on vacation has to eat breakfast at 4:30 AM the least they can
do is serve my favorite. So they did!! Very exclusive, this spa.
Carol-slave got out the furminator and did me all over, just like I like.
And I was outside several times today in the sunshine, smelling country
smells and eating a little country grass. I even chewed on a lovely bone I
found in the toy basket in the livinig room. The country life is pretty
good.
Wonder how Cakie and TWB are doing back home? And I kinda miss the old
slaves; I think they must surely be missing me, too.
Nudge
