[Dailydrool] helping steps

At our house we have never allowed the hounds on the furniture but our
boys have always slept with us. For a long time we had a set of wood
steps with carpet on them that my dad made to help the hounds get on
and off the bed. A couple of years ago we switched to a carved-foam step
unit that has a washable faux suede cover. The "steps" are carved in a
wavy pattern, more like a ramp with bumps on it, that is easier for our now-
elderly, arthritic hounds to climb up and down. It can be found in a few
different catalogs. I think it will turn up in a google search or a nextag
comparison-shopping search. Not inexpensive but very durable, and an
added bonus for the humans: if you get up in the middle of the night and
accidentally kick the steps in the dark, it doesn't hurt like those old wood
steps did!

Drool to all in need,

Nancy (mom to Toby, Hadley, and Casey atb)
