I used the treat method with my 4 mo old puppy. I took liver treats
outside with us and each time she used the 'potty' outside, she would
immediately get a treat. It worked for me...she is now 5 mo. old and 99.9
% house-trained -- we're still working on the other .01%. I just need to
learn to see her when she's sitting silently by the back door....

P.S. I don't use the treats outside anymore but give her one when she
comes in for being such a good girl : )

Our new girl Betsy came to us doggy door trained, but not necessarily house
trained.

Our biggest problem is that we have her outside for at least 10 minutes and
she will come back into the house and do her business on the carpet shortly
thereafter. We thoroughly cleaned the rugs and have tried to put her on a
rotating schedule, but to no avail.

She is gated into the kitchen during the day and does not mess in there
while we are gone, but will pee or poop in the house within minutes of us
getting home and her being let outside.

We're at our wits end with her. She is getting plenty of time outside - we
walk her, we leave her out for extended periods, we put her out constantly
and she still comes in and messes in the house within an hour of having
been outside.

What can we do?
