Dearest Shirley.

My heart just goes out to you! I know that pain of losing such a dear one
and only time will ease the hurt. In the meantime, my prayers go out to you.
At least know that dear Harrison is no longer in pain and you did the right
thing,

Susan & critters

Tonight my heart is breaking as I write to you asking that you keep my
family in your thoughts and prayers as we try to get thru this ordeal. As
some of you know my beloved Harrison had many problems some related to old
age and some not. In June of this year we thought that we were going to
lose but miraculously we did not .

All day today he had a problem keeping any position , sitting, lying
standing longer than 30-45 seconds. We rushed him to the vet after a couple
of hours of this and after many test an ultrasound of his spleen revealed a
large tumor. Because of his advanced cardiac issues surgery was not
possible. So with no other options available to us we helped him to the
bridge where he is no longer feeling any pain.

Harrison was a 13 yr old boy who endeared himself to all that met him with
his sweet nature. Harrison started life with us at age 2-3 yrs as a rescue
from Brood. Later years found him a very willing ambassador for Droopy
Basset Rescue. He loved people especially children and was patient and kind
to the end. He seemed to think that anyone who came to the house did so
just to see him. What a great guy. He could barely walk at the end but
that did not stop him from enjoying life and all the great scents even if it
meant sitting on the beach with nose in the air or rolling in the sand. He
could no longer enjoy walks with us so we would drive him to the beach or
park and allow him to take his few steps tail wagging and sniff life!

But if really were honest with myself I saw the signs and just couldn't
bear to think of losing him. He was special beyond belief and my heart
aches at the thought of never having him in my life any longer. He was my
old gentleman and I miss him terribly already. Thanks for the support that
you have shown me in the past.
