Lanolin, which is a natural substance in sheep's wool, can help protect paw pads and keep snow and ice from sticking to the hair in between toes. There's a spray you can buy that is easier to apply for full coverage, but it probably costs more than chapstick.

has anyone ever heard of putting chap stick or blistex on their dogs feet 
in the winter, a frind of mine who I am in water therapy told me that her 
sister  who lives in NY and raises beagles told her that she puts chap 
stick on the pads of their feet in the winter when they go outside.  does 
anyone do that ????  ever heard of it before ??
