Claudia O'Neil lives in the small town of Mayfield, KY
which is near Paducah. She is an emergency dispatcher
and has really been through it with the ice storm, working
long hours and coming home to a real mess. She has
damage to her roof and gutters, frozen pipes. downed
trees all over her property and, like everyone else in that
area, no power. They don't expect power for about a month,
maybe more.

Winston and Sadie the bassets and Henry the bloodhound
aren't getting the attention they're used to and are missing
their mom while she's working 12 - 16 hour shifts and trying
to help everyone else. Their yard is off limits to them because
all of the fencing is down thanks to the fallen trees and limbs.
Claudia had to push huge limbs away from her house just
to get in and out of the door.

What Claudia says she wants most is a hot shower, some
clean clothes and some hot food, all of which are next to
impossible right now. Local hotels have no power in most
cases so that doesn't work - and they'd have to take the
hounds or she won't go.

She does have insurance on the house but it's going to
take a while for the adjustor to get there because of
the conditions. Hopefully the National Guard will be a big
help in checking on people and assisting with the clean
up - I just heard on the news that the governor of KY
has ordered them to help. And maybe that will give
Claudia a bit of a reprieve with her work hours so she
can get some rest. Working all those hours, being under
so much stress and having to physically move tree limbs
is not the best thing for someone who just had surgery.

If you haven't looked into the raffle to help Claudia and the
House of Puddles, please do check it out. She has a greater
need than before now with this damage from the ice storm -
insurance is a big help, but we all know they don't cover
everything and those deductibles . . .

Claudia's phone is out but she is checking in with me once a
day when she can - there's other Droolers who have been
affected by the ice storm; I know Richlyn's daughter is
posting about her. Does anyone know of any others??
Please post about them if you do.

Here's the link to the raffle for Claudia & HOP - details are
on the first page and their are additional pages for the
prize packages:
