I thought the same thing with my basset.  He doesn't have that much brown on him but has a gazillion tick marks.  From reading around a bit, (1) I think they are very rare in the US, and (2) Their conformation is different, i.e., long legs, and the head looks different.  But there are definately some bassets I have seen that look like them.
