[Dailydrool] Anal Gland

In response to the anal gland question, my basset Daisy had one when she was
7 and had surgery to remove it and the growth turned out to be malignant.
The vet oncologist was pretty sure he removed all of it but left us with the
possibility that some cells may still exist and it could spread. He also
recommended chemo and radiation to totally get rid of any bad cells, but we
couldn't afford it because cost $6,000 to do it. We had two more years with
her before she passed away last March from the other anal gland having a
cancerous growth and surgery wasn't an option the second time around because
the cancer had already spread. Just sharing Daisy's story and not wanting
to scare anyone, but also giving the reality of what could happen. I think
if it is possible, request both glands to be removed. I learned about that
option when it was already too late for Daisy.

Hope this helps Cindy and lots of drool to Rebel.
