When one of the pack is away for a couple of days you learn things
about the rest of the pack you never really noticed before. With all
the chaos of Buford's ailments I realized for the first time that
Della is quite an interesting and quirky basset!

Della is 47 lbs at most. She is this slender and sleek basset hound--
a deep yet narrow chest and a very tiny waist. She is cute as a
button too.

Unlike her big brother Buford however, she is the quietest hound to
ever grace this planet. Buford whimpers, whines, barks for biscuits,
and even "talks" like a lab almost holding a full two-way
conversation with you. Della---nothing. Not a peep. Not a growl,
not a whisper, nadda. That is, unless you're the garbage man
"stealing" our stuff or the terrier who lives next door or anyone who
walks ANYWHERE within eyesight of the front living room windows. If
that happens you think a sonic boom went off! GEEZ but does she ever
have a set of lungs on her!

Della is not a water drinker--she only drinks water after breakfast
and dinner. Never goes near the bowl during the day. And she will
NEVER have water unless Buford has had a full drink first and left it
all slobbery with his backwash. As soon as he's done she dives in
like it's the best thing she ever tasted. (gross, I know) But with
Buford at the vet-spital the water bowl is clean and the water is
crystal clear. And she simply refuses to drink it! Fortunately I
finally heard some lapping about an hour ago so I know she's learning
to cope with his absence.

She is a smart and a sweet dog--I've always known that but it took
Buford falling ill for me to really notice that she is also very
special and just as loving as him. Hard to believe that something
good came out of Buford going to the specialty clinic.

Drool to all in need, and thanks to all those who sent some our way.
