[Dailydrool] Bladder Stones

Amanda Lynn could use any Healing Drool that any of you might have lying
around...

Last evening she developed symptoms of a urinary tract infection. Her
symptoms were pretty common - wanting to go out constantly, squatting
multiple times with no urine. In fact, she had one a couple of months ago
which cleared up quickly with antibiotics.

In her need to go out early this morning, she urinated on the rug. When my
husband noticed the accident, he also noticed a smooth rock about the size
of a marble in the middle of the puddle. We were unsure what it was - or if
she had actually passed it - or picked it up outside. To be honest, based
upon the size of the thing, I really didn't think she passed it.

But, to be on the safe side, I took it along with a urine sample this
morning to our vet. To my shock, he was about 90% sure it was a bladder
stone. She's now on antibiotics again and scheduled for xrays next week to
check on the possibility of more stones.

Well, about an hour ago, she cleared up any questions about the first rock -
as she passed 2 more - both about the same size!

Earlier today, the doctor assured me that she would NOT be in the
excruciating pain that we would be in if we were passing a stone that size.
I certainly hope he's right - as I cringe just thinking about it!

I have never had any experience with this sort of thing with any dogs we've
had in the past. Does anyone have any knowledge they might pass along?

But even more important - please send a little drool her way. Thanks.

Marilyn - loving Mom of Amanda Lynn and Bridgemates Samantha Sue and Bob
