Debbie - I was glad to see Brudder Elwood posting again - your neck of the woods sure got walloped with the Nor'easter. That's a lot of rain...especially when you have a houseful of houndage, LOL.

To all still in the path of bad weather, including our UK friends; be safe.

King Bob - This is just NOT acceptable. A King should never be in pain or ill on their special day. Know that our crew is drooling overtime for you.

Healing drool to all sick houndies and their humans. Shannon, sorry to hear that your infection remains tenacious but glad to see you back here.

Heart healing drool to all those who have recently sent their hounds to the Bridge or who are remembering special ATB anniversaries.

Typing this nine-fingered. Thursday, while doling out treats, Daisy got a bit impatient and helped herself to hers before my finger was disengaged from said treat. She nailed my right index finger but good. Pinched it between her jaws, puncturing it with an incisor. Went home - this happened during a walkie - and flooded the wound with hot water and soap for over five minutes, hoping to head off a problemthen had to leave for Long Island to pick up our granddaughter for a weekend visit. Halfway through the drive my finger began to feel like an over-stuffed sausage. Sure enough it had begun to swell and was quite sore. Spent several hours at the ER yesterday. The hand surgeon who was called in explained that animal bites where a puncture wound occurs on the palmar side of the finger are very dangerous to the flexor tendon, the tendon which allows the finger to bend. So, I got a dose of IV antibiotic then he shot my hand full of numbing agents, scrubbed it out, including the area immediately around the tendon, packed it with medicinal gauze and put me out of work for the week. Monday I am to check in with his hand "therapist" who will unpack it, soak in in antiseptic solution, check the wound for infection, re-pack and re-wrap it. I'm to see them every day until Thursday when I see the doc again. Hopefully, there will be no signs of infection and the wound can be dressed, unpacked, to begin to heal. In the interim, I am on two different kinds of oral antibiotics. Daisy is moping about, looking guilty and chagrined. I have reassured her I know it was an accident. Let this be lesson to anyone feeling cavalier about getting nipped, however....DON'T!
