Or
THE DOG WHO WOULD BE COOK:

We have a baby gate propped the long way in front of the stove.
Having experienced the Natural Gas Odor more than one time I discovered I
had two dogs turning on the stove-- Cooper and Conley. There has to be
something really good on the stove, nearly on the stove, next to the stove,
or leftover on the stove or, God forbid, cooking.
As with children all handles are turned in and no utensils are left in
cooking pots while they are cooking. Or not.
There are things you can buy to put over the knobs. We bought some but they
looked too complicated for our simplistic minds. First we had trouble
getting them out of the blister packs.
Luckily, we had purchased a vicious looking device that opens blister
packs.
Then we discovered that the knob covers do not quite fit right. Almost.
So we have settled on the very un-aesthetic but also very effective up-ended
Baby gate.
We have them all over the house anyway, what's one more?
