We have a place to live! Not the log house I was looking at before - those people were nuts and I just didn't want to go near that. But we are renting a brand new house - built by realtor's husband and client's financing fell through - and they haven't sold it so are willing to rent to me and all the dogs! Lovely place, garages underneath and come in thru basement. Basement is wide open, finished with tile floor, so perfect for the dogs. Then everything else on main level. Front and back porches, 1.5 acres, and I can put up a fence for the hounds.Pretty rural so no worries if there is a little barking. Can't do a dog door the way it is - french doors, not a slider to the back deck, but we can live with it. We have a 6 month lease, so I can take my time looking for a permanent home. This place is a bit too far from the hospital for when I'm on call, and I may need to just run home to feed the kids, then go back to sleep at the hospital or a hotel while on call. I can do that for 6 months, but not forever. If the drive turns out to be manageable, we may just buy this place though.

I'm so thrilled and thanks to all who sent drool and good wishes - I really found an angel of a real estate agent.

We are sending tons of drool out to those who need it to heal hearts, tummies, or what ever else needs it.....

Oh, the sad part of all this, is that I've had to rehome Maya, my Great Dane and Sage the Bloodhound. Looking at 4-6 months of possible kennels or apartment living was going to stress Maya way too much. Sage is an extreme escape artist when it comes to fencing, and in a rental, I just can't put up the kind of fence needed to keep her safe. It was a hard decision, and I felt terible, but to look at the needs of the dogs, it was best and safest for them to go to homes where they could have one transition and settle safely without risk of escape. If I was purchasing a home now, I could get any kind of fence I want, but that just isn't going to happen yet. I hope no one judges too harshly - I really want the best life for them and if it's not with me right now, that's how it has to be.
