Yesterday we brought home a friend for Frank:) Meet "Tina", a 4-year-old gal whose owner was retiring her from breeding and was looking for a good "pet home" for her. Through a friend of a friend of a friend, we were offered the opportunity to have Tina -- they knew we'd lost Sarah not long ago, and thought Uncle Frank might like a pal, and that we're long-time basset owners/lovers. Tina is a Big Sweetie Pie, has had two litters, and is very gentle - that's perfect for us since we now have an 8-month-old granddaughter who we see often. Here are some photos from last night; our daughter and her family were over for dinner, and we'd brought Tina home only about 6 hours before these photos were taken...

And, of course, here is a link to a Frank and Tina video, again taken yesterday when all was very "new".

Tina is settling in well. She's the Spittin' Image of our dear Sarah ATB, which is both comforting and weird! She's very friendly, and likes to jump up on one and all. We're trying to keep her four paws on the floor, since she was spayed just last week and is still healing from that. Tina is NOT food-motivated; in fact, she's one of those bassets I've only read about, who doesn't care if dinner is served now, or not. That will be our biggest adjustment, getting her to eat when it's time to eat. She's petite for a basset, weighs 42 pounds compared to Frank's 62 pounds. She's totally potty-trained (part camel, we think...pees only 2-3 times a day, not what we're used to!). We've told our relatives and friends who have come to meet her, that getting a 4-year-old basset is So Much Easier than getting a puppy! Especially since we still have a foot of snow outside that refuses to melt...can't imagine trying to house-train a pup in this cold mess!

So, please welcome Tina to Drool-land -- many stories to come, I'm sure!
