First, a very happy Gotcha day to the Brudder!

I'm now "retired" and get to spend every morning (and afternoon) spending at least an hour each time walking the 3 Bassets. Mind you, most dogs would do this walk in about 20 minutes, but it's Bassets we're talking about. I'm amazed at how different the 3 are.

Gallagher: "marches" up the street, we call it his "show strut" even though he's not a show dog. He marches with his head up as if on a very important mission, until... a squirrel comes into view then he goes into basset ballet - running and twirling in every direction, nose to the ground. His tail is usually down, and will wag like crazy when said squirrel is sighted. The yummiest snack in the world will not take him off mission.
MacKenzie: "wiggles" up the street. This curvy girl swings everything she's got as she saunters up the street. If Gallagher sees a squirrel, she'll follow, wiggling all the way. Her tail is always up. She can be swayed by snacks.
Poppy: "hops" up the street. When she needs to catch up to the young folk, it's almost like she's got her 2 front feet tied together as well as her 2 back feet, hopping along the way. Her tail goes in circles - this may be the device that actually propels her forward. She's always ready for a snack.
