LOL Oh Sandi, I couldn't stop laughing at your Drool posting, reminds
me of the first time I bred our miniature Dachshund, I had never bred a
dog before, so didn't have a clue of what was " involved " I got the name of
a reputable breeder in Sandusky Oh. So I drove for an hour to get there
with my Doxie. he explained the process to me and told me that he breeds
the bitch twice. then he tells me that he helps the male mount the bitch ,
" say what " now here I am in a strange town, with a strange man that I
never met before, in his house and he ask me if I want to watch ?????? "
huh " my heart is pounding and not from excitement. I told him that I
would go into town and get some lunch and I would be back later, he said
that he couldn't give me a time as she " the bitch " may not except the
male right away and it may take all afternoon. the thought of watching this
strange man guide his stud into my bitch was not what I wanted to stay
around and watch, specially beings there was no one in the house except him and
me. I was young and dumber than a box of rocks. the next breeding I took
hubby with me and yes, we had 7 beautiful miniature Dachshund puppies,
but it was a once in a lifetime thing, I marvel at anyone who does this , it
is tons of work and very exhausting !!!! and having seven puppies running
through your house for 10 to 12 weeks is overwhelming ! I would never
recommend it to any novice person. and anyone who has heard the old story of
how you should allow a female dog have at " least one litter of pups
before you have them fixed " is horse manure ! that is my personal opinion !
