Hey Kacy 
I don't do surgery on any patient without bloodwork.  Elevated kidney or liver enzymes could indicate functional problems with those organs which are crucial in removing the anesthesia from the body.  I don't do any surgery on my own dogs without bloodwork either.  If they can do bloodwork at the hospital perhaps this is something they can do before surgery.  Even if it is a small panel (client speak = less expensive) that would be better than nothing IMO.  Hope things go well!
