My Abraham Ga-linkin is extremely long...he measures 57" long. from the
tip of his nose to the tip of his tail. This was an official measurement
done when they measured his ears for the Longest Ears Contest at last years
Tri-State Waddle. Everyone tells me ..."he is the biggest basset I have
ever seen". What they mean is the longest. He weights 83 pounds and is NOT
fat...has a waist and you can feel almost see his ribcage. My Vet said he
is at a perfect weight. Sadly he is not the heaviest basset I have
had...the late great Violet Rose and Polly Esther both came in at 90 pounds
each...which is something I am not proud about. Violet Rose came to me so
emaciated that when she was to be spade the doctor could not find the lining of
her uterus all due to malnutrition. But that's another story in itself.

I know there were many threads about the 4th of July...my Owen is so
fearful of fireworks and of thunder and lightening. A friend of mine who is Vet
Tech relayed information that a client with a very fearful golden had
tried a new product and swore by it...the product is called Pet-EZE which is
available at Petsmart. I went and bought it and about 1 1/2 hours before
the fireworks were to go off I gave Owen his dosage. If you go to my
Facebook (Shelley Galinkin) page and look at my photos of "Owen Sedated" you can
all see for yourself how wonderful the product worked. I hope it works that
well with thunder and lightening...if only I knew when they would actually
occur I could get a dosage into him at least an hour prior to the storm.

One more thing ...we discovered a litter of kittens under our
shed....sigh...As of today we caught three with two more to go. I thought I had it
covered as we originally thought there were only 3 kittens and I had homes for
those three (of course we are keeping one) when yesterday when we were
feeding the last kitten (so we thought) another one came out and then
another one. The reason we didn't realize there were 5 kittens is because the
last three are all gray . I am somewhat frantic and all the shelters and
rescues are inundated with kittens..Two have already been to the vet and the
final three will also be going once all are in custody. They are /have
been tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV, de-wormed, de-fleaed but not
vaccinated as they are too young. So if anyone on list who wants a kitten or who
knows of a rescue that might be able to take them ...Please let me know. I
also have pictures on Facebook under Feral Cats. We live in Toms River,
NJ Ocean County. I plan to trap, neuter and release the mother if we can
trap her...I have never seen her as she is very elusive. I also think this
might be Mary Todd's mother as well...

Shelley (exasperated ), etc.
