Our rescue, Cassie Mare' just celebrated her 11th birthday on Saturday. She was
born with deformed hips, has been blind for 6 years, and she was also born
without an ear drum in one ear, plus she barely hears out of her other ear. She
has been such an inspiration in our lives, and many others who know her, or have
read her stories in the Bugler over the years. She has also had two bouts with
cancer, but just keeps going like that Energizer Bunny! She eats like a small
horse, which I learned from her breeder is a family trait, but Cassie is not
gaining any weight, just getting thinner. Even though we moved from the
California high desert, she can't seem to handle the humidity at all this year
here in Idaho, and it hasn't been that bad. Now she has started being more
unable to hold her bladder, and we can tell she is embarrassed about it, too. I
guess my question to all out there is when do I know that it is time for her to
get free of her maladies, and join her fellow friends at the bridge? I knew with
our boy Harley, but he had been abused and after we gave him 4 years he wouldn't
have had, he couldn't forget the pain he suffered before living with us. This
little angel has been my life since she was delivered to our house 9 years ago,
but I am hurting due to not wanting to do this too soon since she is still
eating so well. If anyone has any advise, please E-mail me or LMK on here. I
will call her Vet as soon as I can, but just wanted some thoughts from all of
you great folks.
Thanks so much,
Barb Williams & Cassie Mare', too!
