[Dailydrool] Sigh...our week at the vets

Well, last week is one I wouldn't care to enjoy again. wee Gracie and Clyde had a disagreement over who owned a bone and although Gracie walked away victorious with the bone, as a bonus, Clyde nailed her ear. On Thursday Gracie had to go into the vets to get her ear stitched. Several hundred dollars later she's feisty as ever and apparently she is capable of doing just about anything despite the cone. Yesterday morning she'd managed to get up on the bed and was lying in front of the fan. She's on the mend and goes in today to have her drain removed. So, I get home Friday and I'm bringing in the groceries. Glenn had gotten home a few minutes before me and let the hounds out. I had just brought in the last of the groceries when I hear Glenn screaming, "Huggie, what's wrong!" I run downstairs and find Huggie laying in the bathroom completely lethargic and refusing to move. I asked what happened. As usual she was pruning the herbs when all of a sudden she started throwing up really hard. I asked what she was eating and although there is nothing toxic in the back I ran out to see she threw up leaves and bile. I run in and pull her up-her belly is hard as a rock-my mind turns to bloat so I run and grab a gas x and give it to her. Glenn stays with her while I call Dr. Ness. He refers us to the Oradell emergency vet and they're calling ahead for us. I get back downstairs. Huggie is up, responsive and has walked to the foyer. I feel her belly and it's normal but now she's shaking her head repeatedly and her eyes and gums are blood red. Now I'm thinking she was stung but can't find where so I call Dr. Ness and tell him we're on our way. By the time we get there-less than 10 minutes she has hiving all over-anywhere you touch her itches. She had a massive injection of Benadryl and steroids and by 2:00am was pretty much back to normal. She must have been stung inside her mouth. Anyway, thank goodness everything is pretty much back to normal but I do hope we can avoid the vets for a little while.
