last week i was sitting at my desk in my office and suddenly, out of
nowhere, i decided i needed to take gus on vacation. lol
now, you must understand, i do not miss one day of work. ever. if i take
a vacation, it's to europe. or a 4 day getaway to new orleans. but i'm
not one to take a week off to sit on a beach or "relax". so this thought of
taking gus on vacation came out of nowhere. a friend who i haven't seen
in a few years bought an inn up in ogunquit, maine and friends have told me
it's a gorgeous place. when he bought it, he had a dog, so made it a
pet-friendly inn. so i called him, made the plan and we take off tomorrow for 3
days. packing for gus is like packing for a baby! of course, i've been
telling him since Friday that we're going on vacation and his reaction is
always the same, "i feel like a treat. gotta treat?"
i cannot wait to get there. the property and rooms are beautiful, the
pictures online feature the dog park he's put in complete with misters, a
little agility course, really great! i plan on walking the Marginal Way, a 3
mile path on the ocean, which i hope gus will love. all those beachy
smells!
the woman who my friend had call me said, "bring a crate if you plan on
leaving your dog in the room alone". i said, "no crate needed. where i go
he goes. it's his vacation!" and she said, "ohhhhh-kay." and i meant it.
ogunquit has loads of outdoor places to eat, and that's where i'll eat.
i'm not going to sit in a restaurant or bar while he sits in the crate in
the room. i'm told the town is so pet-friendly that the stores have water
bowls outside for them!
so we are off to make some beach memories!
susan, loving slave to gus
gus-does this place have treats?
