[Dailydrool] On long necks and muffins

Well, a slave who leaves muffins unattended should simply expect to lose
them. Bassets and muffins (or other high-value carbs) were just made for
each other.
But I will bet that it's something more tricky than simply a long neck. Our
Jane used to be able to reach the back of our stove. But she didn't simply
stretch her neck out. I once caught her with her front paws on the edge of
the stove; she was bouncing on her hind feet and probably pulling up with
her front paws. Eventually she would have gotten the item, had I not
bellowed at her. She got down.
When we got a new stove a couple of years ago, it had grates on top, which
deterred such adventures. But a flat stove or countertop is fair game as far
as a basset is concerned.
