[Dailydrool] record keeping

I can totally relate to the rant. My Vet is now computerized but if you had
multiple dogs before, your records could be anywhere! They wrote things on
the wrong dog's file, not for any reason but they couldn't find the right
one right away. Maybe it was in charges, maybe the office manager had it
upstairs, maybe they filed it wrong or didn't look carefully but I NEVER
knew who had had what when and thank GOD nobody ever had major reactions to
anything!!
Cooper's file I made sure had SENSITIVE TO ACE DO NOT USE ACE NO ACE VERY
REACTIVE TO ACE written across the front but if I came in and they couldn't
find his file they were just as likely to grab Zelda's or Mitchell's.
There is just no excuse for this and even tho I worked there-- or maybe
especially because of that-- I found it outrageous.
Now that they are computerized it is BETTER but still not perfect. Just
recently they called and wanted to know if I had had all kinds of work done
on one of the dogs, because they had a printout for it, but no charges. The
answer was no, we never had it done. Why it was printedup, I do not know. We
TALKED about doing it but never did.
I'm lucky because I go in the back with my dogs, but not everyone has that
privilege, so be sure, before they vanish with your best friend, that they
have the right file.
