[Dailydrool] Pancreatitis

As usual ... I am fairly silent on the drool, but know where to go when I need help or to calm down from vet visits :-).  My 11 year young little girl Claudia was diagnosed with pancreatitis today.  She is at the vet now getting fluids and going through the process for at least the next 48 hours.  But I have no experience with this ... I knew it existed, but don't know much at all.  I trust our vet BUT I also trust real stories from a basset mom or dad's mouth experience with this as well.  Her kidney and liver levels are perfectly normal, so right now there is no concern of other things and her pancreas levels were 2 to 3 time the normal, so he said it was a mild case but if not treated it could get bad fast.  She is being treated, but I am not sure what this means in the future ... I will talk to the vet tonight when we can go and visit her and take Jaime (her sister) to see her but I wanted to see what that meant for others too.  She currently
eats Innova Senior Food, she is 40 pounds so very fit.  We have no idea what caused it.  She has been eating grass but we stop her constantly ... she doesn't get human food and we don't keep food out for her to even get to it (and counters are too high for her :-)).  We are just kinda beside ourselves with this one.  Besides the fact this is the longest time her and her sister have been a part since Jaime rescued us 4 years ago and she has never NOT slept in a bed, so that is emotionally challenging for me, but I know we can get through these next 48 hours, but I am not sure what happens then.  It doesn't seem like this "just goes away ... ".  Any help, advice, etc is so helpful ...

And for all of the little one's that left us way to soon because of the fires, that is just horrible.  We got the email from GABR yesterday about Noah and then I was reading the drool today to read about the other fire too ... Our hearts and prayers go out to all of those families ... it is just such a horrible thing.

Thanks for reading and any information or help you can give us ...

Amy
