All my dogs know the difference between an intact male or female and one who
is not, altho the females are more subtle. The boys bristle at intact males,
(and each other) and Cooper, who was neutered late, often acts like an
intact male-- taking charge, posturing and eyeballing other males. I would
never trust him at the dog park, for example, or Nigel. Or Conley, who plays
very very rough because he is playing with Nigel and their "playfights"
often turn into something very very edgey and close to the real thing.
Conley recently was at a show with his sister who had just come into season.
He had never been around a bitch in season and was quite taken with her,
needless to say.(The feeling was NOT mutual) You know the cartoons where the
eyeballs spin in a pinwheel fashion? Yeah, well..... He then spent the rest
of the day attempting to check every dog he passed, just to validate in his
mind (?) what the smell was. Or to see if he could find someone who smelled
that good but was a lot friendlier. (LOL)
Once home, he checked out everyone here, too, to his disappointment. Later
he saw his sister again as she was coming OUT of season and was enchanted
but summarily told where he could put that big, cold nose of his if he
wasn't careful.
He doesn't understand any of this.
He only knows the smell and that it does something to him over which he
probably has no control.

Ruled by Gonads. Typical males.

MomPerson to Nigel (intact) Llewis, Conley (intact) and Cooper
