[Dailydrool] Thank You, for your thoughts on Basil

Thank you all for the sweet words and drools you sent me. I can't believe
that my sweet Basil is at the Bridge.

I must confess that tears were flowing the day he was helped onto his
journey to the Bridge, and then nothing. It bothered me that no tears were
coming. But grief is funny and it hits us in many different ways.

Back in 1997, when Basil came to live in my house as my first foster boy and
slowly became my foster failure, I created a website dedicated in providing
a comprehensive list of basset hound rescue organizations (bhrescue.com). In
2005, I neglected that site. My mother-in-law died, my Cinnamon and my
Coriander went to the Bridge, a year later, my Zack Curry went to the
Bridge, and my desire to keep up with the site waned.

About one month before Basil went to the Bridge, my webserver died. (I
manage my websites from home.) I lost 13 sites, including bhrescue. The day,
Basil left for the Bridge, I decided that, rather than build the websites
from backup, I would rebuild from scratch. The site is up. Rescue people,
please check it for accuracy. It shouldn't be hard to find your rescue
listing.

Now, onto the reason for this post, as I was rebuilding the site, I came
across an old TBO's post (how many of us remember him?) about Penelope and
her Pups. I posted her story under my "Oodles of Information." As I was
posting it, flood of tears came flowing down. I was ready to cry. I was
ready to cry for Basil, for Penelope, for TBO, and for all of us who so love
this breed.

Thank you all.
