I have another trick to get that urine - buy a large ladel!  At the vet they even attached it to a broom stick so they don't even have to bend over -

I had to share my DH's solution for collecting a urine sample from female houndies.
Get a wire hanger and shape the hook end around the specimen cup tightly .
Bend the other part of the hanger into a long handle thin handle.
Follow houndie around the back yard and when she begins to squat shove cup under the appropriate place.  TA DA, pee in cup, not on hands.

Marilyn I am so sorry to hear of your loss....drool is being sent your way - and lots of drool for all in need -and here is an update on Trixie...still hanging in there - she is eating her canned food morning, noon and nite - we have been able to get her down to three pills a day - she even eats the hard stuff every once in awhile.  She spends a lot of time sleeping, but still is wagging her tail and even getting in a bark or two when the others go running!
