Hi-I am responding about the pigs ear and pancreatitis. My older girl Cleo (now 11) also got this from a pigs ear when she was about 5. Hubby and I were wrecks-she was vomiting blood-we rushed to the vet-same thing-liver counts off-tests revealed pancreatitis. She stayed at the vet for 2 nights on IV. I have pretty much always fed both my girls Wellness kibble and we boil chicken or chopped meat to mix in along with no salt canned green beans. The only fatty thing she had was the pigs ear. The vet told us those are the worst thing for them. We learned our lesson and never bought them again. Instead we buy the chicken chews-they are like dried chicken strips-they love them and they are not bad for them. Cleo has never had another bout thank goodness-but once in a while if we give her a piece of steak or ribeye-she will get sick-the vet said its just too rich for her. We try to keep her diet with just the chicken.chopped meat regimen and we were told it is better to feed several times a day smaller meals ratehr then one large meal. So now they eat at around 11 and then again at around 7. I hope this helps-it is scary but manageable-and cleo is now 11 and as i mentioned never had another bout!
