I just received the wreaths, stockings and ornaments from Cookie and cannot begin to tell you how beautiful they are. I ordered 3 wreaths for myself and family, 6 ornaments and 6 stockings for the dogs. I've already placed another order. If you don't know what to get someone for the Christmas holidays and you want to support a great cause (Montana Basset Rescue) at the same time, or just want to support a great cause, please consider these. The ornaments are huge and wonderfully done and so are the stockings, but the wreaths are in a class by themselves. They are just gorgeous.

On several sadder notes, we lost Nikki, our 14 1/2 year old notabasset, on October 2nd to cancer. We had his spleen removed along with an attached mass that weighed about 9 lbs back in February so was able to gain a few more months with him. This was my husband's dog before I came along so he opted to take Nikki to the vet by himself. I've since been working on a shadow box to commemorate Nikki that my husband will like.

Both of our mothers had strokes recently so we are taking care of their dogs; that brings the total canines in my home to 6; well above the legal limit as well as the sanity limit (my sanity!). Sadly, I had to turn down a foster recently because of that. We are pretty sure 1 of the dogs will be able to return to their home, but Griswold, a dachshund/beagle cross that got the best of both sides of that mix and the most adorable little red dog I've ever seen, most likely will not go home. The poor little guy has lived in 4 households by the time he was a year and a half. With the loss of Nikki, my husband has latched onto him like a life preserver. Anyway, everything has gotten back to normal here since everything happened and we'll try to keep it that way.

To everyone who needs drool, it is being slung here in buckets. To everyone who has lost a baby to the rainbow bridge, my heart-felt thoughts go out to you. To everyone who wished Lily well on her surgery, everything went well and she has a forever home now, too. She may not have a known birthday, but she has a Gotcha day now of September 17th. I've spoken to her new mommy numerous times, been sent numerous pics and been to visit once and can honestly say that that is 1 very lucky puppy. I've said it before and I'll say it again: MBR is an A-1, class act. Thanks to everyone involved for making it possible for Lily and all the rest of the throwaway babies to get a second chance at heaven. In this case, it was a perfect match.
