Val, I certainly feel sorry for your situation.  If I was in your shoes, I think 
I would also push my luck when walking my dogs.  We live in Colorado, and it is 
an extremely dog friendly state.  I live within easy driving distance of six dog 
parks.  Dogs are allowed in the Forest Service lands, and on many trails they 
are allowed off leash as long as under voice control.  My dogs know they get 
treats at the bank, the post office, Hallmark and the liquor store.  
Unfortunately, not all dog owners are conscience of cleaning up after their 
pets.  


Tell the next person that you are prone to seizures and that your bassets are 
trained to smell the chemical changes in your body that indicate the onset of a 
seizure.  Basset hounds are known for their scenting ability, who would argue 
with you.
