Hi all, momPerson here,

We very nearly lost our Cyrus (huge black lab) in December of last year when the
vet game him both rabies and dystemper (both 3 year). He slowed down over a
course of several days to the point where he wouldn't eat and that afternoon
when the girls came home from school they found him outside and couldn't get him
up and my husband raced home and managed to get him to the car and the vet and
they were able to bring our sweet boy back with some shots .... don't know what
all they gave him but it worked.

Cyrus doesn't get vaccinations anymore. The Vet says that at seven he's already
immune enough and it's too risky now. I've heard of a few other reactions. And
the vet doesn't give these two shots together anymore ... she recommends people
come back in a week or two for the second one.

Good luck,
Dale ... with Cyrus and Snoopy

Has anyone had any experience with their basset having a reaction such as
pancreatitis to this vaccine? I have been reading online and there are some
indications for this. Our vet says he has never had this reaction from a Rabies
shot but there are veterinarians who are researching this area. In Florida, we
must give this every three years. I will never know if this is the reason for
Pixel's pancreatitis but she had this vaccine last week.
