Thank you all for the "pick your butt up and walk again" drool.  Shelby and her fluffy little self can WALK. Shelbs even ran a little bit in the back yard the other day.  Something Marley did startled her so she started to gallop as only she can.   She is lumbering around the house and the backyard.  She is doing great.  She never gets upset.  She never seems sad.  She gets up and lives each day like there is loads to do and see(which she can't). Last night she went to the back door, sat down, pulled the drape back, and stared like she could see.  I have been owned and oprated by 8 bassets and she is by far the best natured.  Even when she couldn't get the back half up at all, she would pull herself through the house to get where she wanted to go.  She only needs help getting all the way up the ramp to come in the back door.  She is my hero.  The only irritation she has ever displayed was at the vet when she first went down.  He pinched her toes and she wanted his hand in return.  
 
Thank you all for the concern and the drool and the kind thoughts.  I don't write all the time but I read every drool and am thinking of all of you and your household jesters.  We love bassets here a lot.  Some would say we love them too much.  Well, there are a couple of kids or maybe three that shouldn't let the door hit them on the way out.  They create far more mess and chaos than my basset girls do.  And they are a lot mouthier too.  
 
We are sorry about all of the bassets who have gone to the bridge.  We think of you all and send heart healing drool.  They never stay long enough.  
 
We are sending drool for the ones who are ill and out of sorts.  We hope they will be well and getting into things soon.
