HI All
First I want to thank all of you for your kind and warm words of support for me.
My Gussie Mussie Man with crusty ears was my first basset. I adopted him at the
age of 7 1/2yrs old. I always said if he was with me 5 years I was blessed. Well
he had other plans. He left for the rainbow bridge at 8 years and 8 months at
the age of 16yrs 4months.

Friday night after I had posted for drool, Gus slept pretty comfortable. I
stayed on the couch to be close to him checking on him every couple hours.
Around 6:45 I checked on him and he seemed to be fine so I decided to get ready
for work go in so I could do a couple clients cancel the rest of my day to be
back at home with him. I was up stairs for 15min came back down to check and
that's when I found him in distress. He was bleeding from both nostrils and was
fighting to get breath. I started calling my business partner so she could take
care of my clients. Called Joni I was hysterical and to beat all I have no voice
do to a cough. Joni figured out what I was trying to say she called Alexa. Alexa
was able to get to me first. Alexa was so kind and calm for me she was able to
call the vet and make the appt. We had to wait for about 45min before we could
leave so we sat on the dinning room floor petting and pulling tuffies off of
Gussie. Gus blew coat 365 and always had tuffs hanging off of him. The whole
time Joni was calling me(she was on the road doing a courier job) and seeing
what was going on. She was trying so hard to get to us with out getting a
speeding ticket, but she understood I had to help Gus and so if she was not
there physically she was with us mentally.
I really had wanted the Holistic vet to put Gus down but Gus had other plans so
went went to the reg vet man. I was so relieved that it was the Dr.M because he
is calm and very straight forward. Alexa had help me carry him out to the car
but when we got there I just scoop Gus up and carried him in on my own. At Gus's
top weight he ran between 60-62lb as he aged he got skinny no matter how much he
ate he was only 46lb that day. Alexa and I just sat on the floor with him till
he was gone. Dr.M was so cool he just stood in the room with us and just chatted
about Gus's life and how healthy he truly had been. Joni and Carole made it
there not long after Gus left this earth. There we were 4 women balling telling
Gus stories. I sent out a text to friends Just saying GUS ATB 10:30am. As we sat
in the room with Gus and people were texting me back I would read them out loud.

I am so grateful for friends. A couple hours after Gus was gone the 4 of us
convened at Alexa's almost finished rebuilt house to give Gus and the new house
a toast. So we drank wine and ate chocolate and other sweet evil things in Gus's
memory.
My house seems so calm I think because I not having to worry about him or clean
up pee or poop.
I going to post something about Gus's life with me later. He was such a big part
of my life and I never shared a lot about him with you all.
Thank you all again for your support
Healing Drool to all
