[Dailydrool] Bassets are soothing.

There is nothing so soothing as stroking a soft old basset. Ninja got left
out for a while this afternoon. She was not amused. We have lots of trees
and coolish shade. She didn't suffer. Anyway, I have been working on
getting myself back into her good graces. She has allowed me to stroke her
side and belly while sleeping next to me. I don't think she has forgiven me
yet and I didn't even leave her out. I don't ever leave them out when I
leave because I worry too much about things happening. Instead, I leave
them in to get in the trash or recycling. It is so much fun to pick all
that stuff up. Shelby likes to pee on the rug when we leave. She wants us
to always remember her. My carpet will never recover. She is such a cute
old coot. I love old coots. I am one. We coots must stick together.

The rest of the crew is doing well. All are catching up on their eyelid
studies.

We are also so happy to have our permanent fence across the garden. It
works and no more bellowing at the neighbor dogs. Or digging and sleeping
in the garden dirt. None of my bassets have ever knowingly put a fruit or
vegetable into their stomaches. They are strictly meat and garbage eaters
with an occasional rabbit or possum thrown in.
