[Dailydrool] Sore basset bottom... Drool please!

Asking for a little extra drool if there's some to spare... Flash had to go to the vet he had a sore on his bottom which ended up being an impacted and infected anal gland. Poor guy is home now (it's NOT how he had planned to spend his day!) and a bit cranky. 
Any suggestions on how to prevent this? He's got water available all the time and we feed candidae...
