Dear Elder Clara,

I never had the honor of meeting you in pawson, but you became a legend in your own time.  You kept the plight of the senior hounds ever before us, and the good you've done in this life will surely follow you to the next.  Being slave to an Elder Rosie, whom I trust will turn the revered age of 16 herself next week, I have a special place in my heart for you mature citizens who have seen so much, often endured terrible things, and not only survived but thrived on the love you found in later years.

The hole in your slave's heart will remain, but even so I bet her heart is larger now than before you entered her life.

Surely the love we give away is the only love we keep.
