[Dailydrool] CIC Bo on the run; and Sticker Shock

Bo is turning my hair gray--what is not already gray, that is. On a leash, CIC
Bo has refused to venture farther than one house to either side of ours since we
moved here two months ago. He generally looks highly wary--certain that we will
be bombed by squirrel drones or something if we are visible in any way beyond
the walls of our compound. Okay. So today my husband returned from the store and
apparently left the gate open. Soon I heard shouts from the end of the block and
an adorable little boy appeared at my door, breathless, panting "Your dog is in
the road! Your dog is in the road!" I rushed out (with Lt. Harley right
behind me) and there, at the very end of our road--at least a block away--is
Commander Bo, smiling his most winningly, performing Meet and Greet in the
middle of the street with a group of children. I could not have dragged him that
far with a tank and chain. I called his name and he came loping up the street,
all smiles. "I'm not afraid to leave the compound, Mom, I just don't want to be
seen with YOU!!" Thanks, Bo.

And on another note. Talk about sticker shock! Day before yesterday I took the
two hounds to the vet for their yearly physical and vaccinations. Both are in
good health for them--Harley in excellent health; Bo doing quite well with his
chronic health conditions. The vet recommended "senior panels" on both.
Urinalysis, fecal samples, blood work, heartworm tests, (and nail trims). And I
got three months worth of heartworm meds. and flea preventive. The tab?--$450
per dog!! Wish I'd asked first. Our TV just gave up the ghost. We've decided to
wait a few months to replace it since we'll be paying off the vet bills for at
least that long.
