I think most of us will agree that microchipping is a good thing. However,
how many of us think to make sure our contact information is correct with
the microchip company? While I haven't moved in years, I have changed
phone numbers (dropping the landline for cell only).

About a month ago, a senior houndette came into Guardian Angel Basset
Rescue. The sending shelter overlooked scanning this old girl for a
microchip. It wasn't until GABR was going to microchip her that it was
discovered that there was one already in place. One of the phone numbers
listed with the microchip company was no longer connected. At least we
knew the dog's approximate age and her real name (Sissy). Sissy was found
in Illinois but was originally adopted out from Iowa.

Thanks to Cindy Foxhaven of Iowa Basset Hound Rescue the dog's owner was
located in Missouri. IABHR didn't have the most recent address on Sissy's
family but Cindy tracked them down. On Saturday, Sissy was reunited with
her family where she will spend the rest of her golden years.

Just a reminder - make sure the microchip company has your current contact
information. Also if you adopted from a rescue, please make sure you
notify them if your contact information changes.

Okay this ends the basset rescue public service announcement....
